Comparison of Intelligent Methods for Thermal Assessment of Power Cables under Geometrical Parameter Variations
In this paper, the thermal field of underground power cable is solved using two intelligent techniques which are newly introduced for thermal assessment of power cables. A backpropagation neural network (BPNN) and an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) models were developed to predict the cable temperature under geometrical parameter variations. The effect of cable spacing and cable b...
متن کاملAdiabatic pumping of Chern-Simons axion coupling.
We study the adiabatic pumping of the Chern-Simons axion (CSA) coupling along a parametric loop characterized by a nonzero second Chern number C^{(2)} from the viewpoint of the hybrid Wannier representation, in which the Wannier charge centers are visualized as sheets defined over a projected 2D Brillouin zone. We derive a new formula for the CSA coupling, expressing it as an integral involving...
متن کاملAdiabatic Quantum Pumping of Coherent Electrons
We review recent theoretical calculations of charge transfer through mesoscopic devices in response to slowly-oscillating, spatially-confined, potentials. The discussion is restricted to non-interacting electrons, and emphasizes the role of quantum interference and resonant transmission in producing almost integer values (in units of the electronic charge e) of the charge transmitted per cycle,...
متن کاملAdiabatic pumping mechanism for ion motive ATPases.
An ion motive ATPase is a membrane protein that pumps ions across the membrane at the expense of the chemical energy of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) hydrolysis. Here we describe how an external electric field, by inducing transitions between several protein configurations, can also power this pump. The underlying mechanism may be very similar to that of a recently constructed adiabatic electron...
متن کاملAdiabatic pumping through interacting quantum dots.
We present a general formalism to study adiabatic pumping through interacting quantum dots. We derive a formula that relates the pumped charge to the local, instantaneous Green's function of the dot. This formula is then applied to the infinite-U Anderson model for both weak and strong tunnel-coupling strengths.
